HOMES FOR RENT
IT IS YOUR RIGHT TO RENT YOUR HOME AS A SHORT TERM RENTAL!
THE VIRGINIA STATE SUPREME COURT RULED in 2007 on Scott v. Walker. The Court cited the Free Use of Land Act allows you to rent your "home or abode" to a tenant of any duration unless strictly prohibited by a Covenant or Restriction. Where language is not explicit, you have the right to rent your home for any duration you see fit. In 2008 a State Senator proposed SB471. This bill sought to make the short term leasing of residential property taxable and a "business use" of a property. This bill was defeated by our State Law Makers. Virginia believes in Your RIGHTS as a property owner!
